This is a post dedicated to the amazing people who work on our vineyard come rain or shine all year round a.k.a. our 'Vineyard Vixens'.

They are all local parents who are keen to work outdoors, have fun as a team and fit their work around family. Luckily we had the perfect solution. We know flexible working is super important for family life, and it is built into the way we do things here at Birchden.

Many of our Vixens come from different professional backgrounds, they may have previously worked in finance, events or run their own business (some seriously impressive credentials here) and all have something in common, the desire to learn about the vines, to work as a team and be outdoors.

Over the past two years they have become experts in vine management, led by the very knowledgeable Hannah and Luke, and it has been a joy to witness. It's also been a pleasure to see some wonderful friendships forming. 

As Sally one of our Vixens has explained "Even on the coldest, wettest days, being on the vineyard lifts my heart. The vixens are a fabulous group, we discuss the meaningless and the meaningful as we work, but either way we could very successfully run a country!"

We couldn't agree more. The Vixens are all super stars, they have worked incredibly hard this year, this week being no exception as we pulled together and harvested all of our grapes (the Bacchus harvest being a particularly tough one that we won't forget any time soon!).

The Vixens will be back in force after Christmas to kick off another year, and we say bring it on. A massive thank you to you all, and we hope you enjoy a well-earned rest.
